We show that recent data from HERA on the proton structure function F2 at small x and large Q 2 provide a direct confirmation of the double asymptotic scaling prediction of perturbative QCD. A linear rise of lnF2 with the scaling variable σ is observed throughout the kinematic region probed at HERA, and the measured slope is in excellent agreement with the QCD prediction. This provides a direct...

The H1 and ZEUS combined data set on Neutral Current (NC) and Charged Current (CC) ep and ep inclusive cross sections is used as the input for next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD parton density function (PDF) fits resulting in a new preliminary PDF set called HERAPDF2.0 (prel.). The analysis yields small experimental uncertainties and includes estimates for ...
متن کاملNuclear Structure Functions and Heavy Flavour Leptoproduction off the Nucleus at Small X in Perturbative Qcd
Nuclear structure functions and cross-sections for heavy flavour production in leptonnucleus collisions are investigated in the low x region accessible now or in the near future. The scattering on a heavy nucleus is described by the sum of fan diagrams of BFKL pomerons, which is exact in the high-colour limit. The initial condition for the evolution at x = 0.01 is taken from a saturation model,...

Recent developments of perturbation theory at finite temperature based on effective field theory methods are reviewed. These methods allow the contributions from the different scales to be separated and the perturbative series to be reorganized. The construction of the effective field theory is shown in detail for φ4 theory and QCD. It is applied to the evaluation of the free energy of QCD at o...

We investigate the evolution of parton densities at small values of the momentum fraction, x, by including resummed anomalous dimensions in the renor-malization group equations. The resummation takes into account the leading-logarithmic contributions (S ln x) k given by the BFKL equation and the next-to-leading-logarithmic corrections from quark evolution. We present numerical results for the p...
